New Horizons can arrange Supported family holidays, for families who require some extra support, or just want some respite of their own whilst still enjoying a family holiday to various destinations abroad.
We offer a range of tailor-made support packages that offer accessible holidays, a choice of accommodation options including camping, hostels or a large range of hotels including specially designed and equipped hotels that are accessible for individuals who require the use of hoists and specialist equipmemt.
We know that there is nothing quite like a holiday to recharge your batteries and, just because you need regular care, doesn’t mean you should have to go without a break.
Our Supported Family Holidays provide support and respite for families who find it difficult to go on holiday due to the level of care and support a family memeber requires whilst away from home, often resulting in them not getting the break they need.
We are able to support individuals with various needs and conditions including Learning Disabilities, Autism, Physical Disabilities and individuals with moderate Challenging Behaviours and more complex peronal care needs.
Responsible for your wellbeing is a member of care staff individually assigned to support you during activities, and provide any care
assistance you might need.
Our team of care staff are all trained, DBS/CRB checked and on hand to assist with any eventuality. We offer physical and emotional support
through a maximum of 3-to-1 (guest to staff) customer care. We also offer 1-to-1 and 1-to-2 support for those with more complex needs.
We can provide a 1:1 Support Worker to accompany you on holiday, to support you with your activities of daily living. Having the support of a professional Carer allows you and your family to relax, safe in the knowledge that you are getting the personal attention and support that you need to get the most out of your holiday.
Our service can be tailored to your individual care requirements. Whether you have complex medical care requirements, personal care needs, or are looking for social companionship, we are confident in offering you a high quality care service.
In most cases we are able to provide supported family holidays for people travelling abroad. As part of your care assessment, before travelling we will assess your medical condition, care requirements and chosen destination in order to determine the level of care that you require and whether we will be able to provide this care for you.
If you require 24 hour care and cannot be left unattended at any time we can arrange for more than one Carer to accompany you on your holiday, therefore ensuring that when one Carer has their respite, your other Carer will be there to fully support you. If it is deemed that 1:1 or 1:2 support is required, a suppliment fee for this will be required.
If distance makes a home visit impractical, you will be asked to provide us with a full personal care plan, detailing abilities, needs,
and the level of care required, and we will complete our assessment remotely.
Tailored To Meet Your Needs
Everyone is unique and will have different preferences regarding the level of support that they will need. As a result, wherever possible, our Carers will encourage you to make your own choices about your holiday, daily needs and support requirements.
In order to provide you with a care service which matches your care requirements exactly, we will arrange for a detailed care plan to be sent to you or for a carer to visit you and carry out a full assessment of your individual circumstances and needs. Following this, we will be able to provide you with a fully costed proposal for your holiday package.
What Level of Support will I require ?
3:1 = The majority of our guests are in this category. Usually fully mobile and needing just limited help with personal care.
1:1 = For those who need a higher degree of assistance with their personal care. The majority of our customers who use a wheelchair or walking aid are also in this category. Not all group holidays are suitable for wheelchair and walking aid users, our accessible holidays are designed specfically around meeting these needs.
1:2= Our customers with multiple & profound disabilities, often needing full assistance in most aspects of their care. Tailor-made holidays may be the most suitable for people with complex needs.
